FROM IDEA TO REALITY: HOW TO START A BEAUTY BUSINESS

Do you have a dream of starting your own small business, but are overwhelmed at the thought of where to begin? Well, the good news is that every successful entrepreneur started with just an idea. But how do you turn that idea into a thriving reality? In this blog article, we spill the top 4 tips to set you up for success.

Let’s do this Queen!

1. Map out your plan.

Let’s face it, with how competitive it is in the beauty industry, it can be daunting as to where to start, and how to really make it work.

The first step is to create a plan that’s staged in order of priority, so you can stay laser focused and limit overwhelm.

Before you open your doors, you will need to nut out your offering, your start-up costs, your ideal client and think about how you’ll get clients through the door. You’ll also need to think about what your brand stands for, what legal support and set up you’ll need, and then of course how you’ll price your services to be profitable.

Your plan should also include a competitor analysis, an evaluation of your target market, and a detailed marketing strategy to have your brand speak to your ideal client.

This plan will be your roadmap for taking your idea from concept to fruition.

2. Define & record your ‘Why.’

Knowing your ‘why’ to begin with really helps to inject passion through everything you do. It’s just like having your purpose and place in life – that’s when things really ‘flow’. Recording your ‘why’ is important because when times get tough (which I promise they will when you’re in the arena) you can always come back to you ‘why’ to remind you why you’re doing all this hard work in the first place. It will help you really stay aligned to the vision when your team, the industry or your loved ones possibly get you off track.

3. Set Goals & Milestones.

Now it’s time to set your goals so you can keep track of your growth and celebrate even the smallest of wins. Stopping and smelling the roses and celebrating wins really helps to limit burnout, which is quite common in business, especially at the start. Pinpoint what it is exactly that you want to achieve and write them down. The key here is to be as specific as possible. Use people that you look up to for inspiration (hello Bobbie Charles), to create your own vision.

4. Map out your Customer Journey

Clients, their trust, and their loyalty are the fundamentals to a successful business. A smart businesswoman understands that having a high level of success is all about building valuable relationships and is always looking at how she can make her customer experience better.
